Bougainvillea ... when colors go berserk ... :)

Nopes, that's not my garden ... its a bunglow that I was driving past in Goa ... the gorgeous bougainvillea's made me take a u-turn and I had to take this picture. Today ,it is so inspiring me... :)
I am looking to add some shade in the little urban patch that's my garden ... and I need color ... like loads of it and tons of blossoms ... and I want it all year round ... my patch is so tiny that I have to be carefull with what I plant or else  ... it's going to be a big oopsy - daisy ... situation.
Toyed with couple of climbers ... but I think nothing beats the burst of color ... like the bougainvillea. With the weather getting better I need to head out to the nurseries and find myself some of these ... Ah! the tough time I'll have deciding on which color to pick... ;)
Hope to share with you some pictures when my lil' patch is carpeted with  new grass ... and you can bet I'll  keep you posted with loads of stories from the outdoors too... :) Now, please do excuse me while I go look for Chandan Singh my new gardener ... Chaaannnnndaaaaannnnn ....... ;)

Really miss those colors!!! How about planting an Amaltas tree for summer color and bougainvillea under/around it...I think there was nothing more beautiful than the yellow laden amaltas trees back in Delhi!!!

That really is a colour explosion! Bougainvilleas are pretty low-maintenance but watch out for those wicked thorns with little ones around.

Awesome color rush. Reminded me of yesterday morning, clear, bright, a bit hot but totally awesome.

I have always loved bougainvillea. We often travel to Jamaica where it is prolific. My favorite are the golden / orange colors. Thanks for taking the time to stop / snap / and share!

One of my all time favorite plants...the bougainvillea. Tried many many times to grow it in Seattle but always failed, the weather was too cold. So now I am loving it here in Hyderabad where it thrives in the sun! Looking forward to those pics!

Our new bougainvillea has just started sprouting, waiting anxiously to see what colour it is;-)

My old 'malli' planted it:-) Will post pics soon:-)

Yes, it's nice to post when I have something inspiring...otherwise I just chill.

Take care and all the best with your garden.

Wow! I love the bougainvilleas!!
Just today morning I was wondering why no bougainvilleas were planted in our apartment garden. And now I get to see this lovely pic:)

Absolutely love the riot of colour that bougainvillea makes . I have a magenta one that spills over my front gate and climbs up the house . It is also home to myriad little birds . Also love Amaltas and Gulmohur - lovely aren't they ?

Hi Gagan,
You are right ... I love the Labrunum?Amaltas myself ... the colors i saw on one of the streets in south Delhi was traffic stopping ... :)
But the issue I have is the miniscule size on my garden ... I have a tiny balcony size ... just s6 feet by 40 feet ... ;)reminds me of a terrace garden I once designed on a fifth floor ... but at least I get to grow a lawn, in the metro madness ... :)

Hi Sunita,
You are soooo ... right ... so I plan to grow it up to 15 feet ... straight up and then create a canopy ... plans ... plans ... lets see how I pull this off ... :)

Bougainvillea grows so well in Gurgaon (and Delhi)...I love the crazy colors! I have seen the tiny gardens at Vatika...but I think with your sense of propotion and aesthetics, you are going to do wonders to that tiny patch of land :)
