Here's a sneak peek at the wicker bed I designed for Sarah ... I have to admit I was very excited when I decided to use wicker for the lil' ones bed ... you know ... different textures and all that thinkin' ... :) Much to the disgust of my carpenter Noorhassan ... who was very eloquent with his criticism ... 'Madam, gaas waas ka bana dala apne ... hamare pe trust nahi apko ... chalo kher ... last mei dekna ... mera kam better hai ke ye gaas phuus ... ( Madam you prefer this rubbish grass stuff to my craftsmen ship ... well ! in time you'll see and then regret this decision ) ... ;) Haa..haa ... one of these posts I have to introduce you to Noorhassan ... his famous last words are ... 'everthing other than wood is nothing but bull '... :)
Some of the details got modified by the craftsmen ... but well we were pleasently happy with this final look . It has a bed back which I kept at about 5 foot high ... no regrets I am enjoying it and so is Sarah.Since the room is going to be dominated with pink I still have work chalked out about the linen and the curtains ...
I think she looks happy ... wowwy ... and mommy is happy too ... :) I just bought some fabric for the bed linen and I think I 'm going to share some sneak-peak pictures with you all ... :) I really do hope you'll drop by and share your thoughts with me ... as always love to hear from you. ..:)

Gorgeous bed for a beautiful little girl!
We should make sure our carpenters never get together to compare notes...they will have a lot to tch tch about ;-)
Very interesting style Rajee:-)

Brilliant. beautiful bed and I loved the pillow case with the embroidered 'S'. Exquisite taste Viji.Keep it up.And don't bother about Noorhassan.
I would love to have access to that bed design in the U.S.......Fabulous! K
Its a lovely bed.. What a lucky girl Sarah is !! I loved the sheet with scallops too. Is it from the US?
I loved the bed....such a cutie pie ur daughter is!
hee hee! I keep telling you, she is gorgeous. Btw, there might be a show in Ggn soon. Will keep you posted. :)
Well the 'gaas phus' bed has certainly come out to be very smart and exotic looking...overshadowed only by the cutie pie who is supposed to use it.
As for the carpenter...he may be skilled but the thinking part is best left to the better equipped!
Has been a long time since I blogged regularly but have been a regular reader of your blog.
Welcome to Gurgaon....
Hi Bhavna,
Carpenters ... NEVER ... us ... that we better make it soon ... how about tea at my place in the morning some time ... :)
While the brat is away ... mom can play... ;)
Hi Arch,
That smile is ultimate reward ... some times mother has to work hard at getting it. That cheeky brat stood by me while I finished this post ... telling me ...'Wow, look at the wonderful bed ... can I also have one like that ...mine is really yuccky ... lucky girl who's got that bed' ... and then giggled and ran away ... leaving her mum open mouthed ... I'm pretty sure you can visualise that.
Lovely to have you over Arch... :)
Hi Anu,
Thankyou ... now I need to finish designing the linen and the curtains ... :)
Hi Mindful Meanderer,
That girl of mine was over joyed just to have the bed in ... was sleeping on it even without the mattress ... and now with the mattress on ... lucky for us she is beginning to sleep in her own room ... no prodding ... :)
Hi Prachi,
The whole project is going real slow ... but I do hope I can give her a cute ... girlie ...girlie room ... finally :)
Hi Patricia,
Thankyou so much ... guess you too know how it is with the girls ... :)
Hi Snehal,
Haha ... Noorhassan is actually a sweetheart ... all my years as a designer ... that's just how carpenters think about designers ... can't live with them ... can't live without them ... :)
Hi Kathy,
Would have loved to say ... can ship it to US... :)... but you can have my drawings it you have someone to do the wicker work for you ... :). Thankyou for appreciating my work ... :)
Hi Shweta,
Thankyou so much ... the coverlet is very much made in India ... you have them available these days at a lot of home stores here ... :)
Hi Preeti,
Thankyou so much ... and that cutipie is a coverup for a devil inside ... her one liners are absolutely embarrassing and leave me open mouthed most of the time ... wondering if they came out of a 4yr ol' mouth. Guess she all up for some standup comedy... ;)
Hi Praji,
That one there is an absolute cute rascal ... I think as I just mentioned in the comment before ... you may be up for some competition in a few years... meanwhile tell me ... tell me about the GGN plans ... I better have my planning done before hand ... :)
Hi @ Green Thumb,
Absolutely lovely to hear from you.Glad you too enjoyed the bed design. Oh! the carpenters ... at 35yrs. now it is much easier to handle them ,then it was as a 24 yr. old fresh out of design school.
Now ,I can handle male chauvinism, sexism ... infalted egos et.,all ... once you fish out your pencil and sketch out exactly how ,what they think can NEVER happen ... will happen ... suddenly all falls into line ...;)
Hey Rajee....that's a lovely bed - I myself am thinking about a wrought iron beauty for my li'l girl and the design has to be just-so! Needless to say I am still searching for that elusive piece:)...your daughter looks like such a sweetheart...and I enjoyed all the previous posts in which you mentioned her (and her inclination for design):)
Great stuff..
me:)
