Art by Buwa Shete ...

I have been loving the works of Pune based artist ... Buwa Shete ... at quite a few of his shows, I have come soooo close to picking up his paintings from the mother and child series...

... the subject matter is so simple ... I think very personal for me at this stage of life ... but its the way he uses colors that makes you stop in your tracks to have a look at his work ...

... ofcourse some of the moments he captures ... make your heart melt ...

... I especially love the way he creates the play of light on his subjects ... I don't care much for technically and artistically right sounding jargon ... so if I can tell you simply, that ... I love how he uses the turquioses and bright reds,  in different paintings and highlights the edge of the faces and noses of his subjects ...  Aahhh! I know some  of the art  critics  would be rolling their eyes at such an art review ... but this is how I look at art ... in the simple ways I relate to it ...
I wonder if  the works of Buwa Shete may interest you ... how about  introduction to more Indian artists, fanning your art interest... would you like to see more of my favourite Indian artists on my blog and hear me talk more non artsy jibberish  ... :)
Would love to hear from all of you ... all your thoughts ... and lets talk more about... art ... you ... and me ...:)

  3. Loved the Painting series...yes i loved the color, the play of light between the subjects, etc...but what touched my heart is the unconditional love that shines through, between the mother and child, and also it was something all women could relate too. Why didnt you pick up the painting, when you came across it? You should have...esp when you could relate the painting to the lovely bond you have with your lil one...And yes, it could be a bautiful keepsake for Sarah, when she makes a home of her own...ok i am now rambling....:-)

  5. Rajee,

This indeed is a very nice attempt from your side, and you are actually doing a favor to us all art lovers , who do want to know about the current breed of Indian painters but do not have much access to such information. I loved the current post and also savored the last post as much which was about Chugtai MAR. Please do keep the series on , and I definitely would look forward to more in this category.
    Take care ,

  11. I love his work. I like that you do not use long arty words, like provenance, etc to explain the art. It simple you like it...and that is good enough to buy a peice according to me.

  23. Oh, its beautiful! I hardly understand the abstract kind of Art but the paintings on subjects, like Mother and Child, touch my core.
Art critics may scoff but whatever you have written sounds pretty esoteric to me.
Your aesthetic sense is remarkable. It shows in the kind of passions you have. I may not understand some of the stuff you show but i love all of it.
