Sharing memories of a past Diwali ...

I'd love to share some old pictures of mine with you ... not the best ones ...guess, back then ... I never knew then I 'd have a style and design blog :) ... but never the less ... here they are ...
I used to have a balcony through beautiful french doors ... this particular Diwali I decided to hang lanterns from the ceilings ... along the railing

... my candle collection went all the way up the staircase ... I like the Diwali feel inside the house as much as it is outside ...

... I was the mother of a toddler ... with time and energy being a premium ...

... but never the less ... when its Laxmi puja ... lights all over the house ... all the sweets in pure ghee and silks finding their way out of your wardrobe ...

... it just has to be Diwali ... that special time of the year ... :)

This was really nice. Wonder why you'd call it not your best, it qualifies for that spot in my opinion.

Beautiful Lanterns!! Did you buy them in India? I am so inspired to go to CHina town here in SF and search for something similar for my house for this Diwali. Thanks for sharing!!

Hi Ananva,
Now you are making me envious ... I soooo ... miss the China Town ... you just might get some great finds ... but try Cost Plus ... or all Z-Gallerie ... even pottery barn has a great range ...
I bought mine in India though ... I even remember some Indian stores in Berkeley used to keep brass nic-nacks ... well all the very best ... hope you find something you really love ...

Dear Rajee - what a brilliant idea - hanging the lanterns!! I have a toddler too and am always nervous about lighting candles around him but I so love candles especially for diwali - what is diwali without lighting candles. I am going to steal your idea=)
