Flowers for the monsoons ...

Is it just me ... or do you feel it too ... monsoons are here (atleast in Mumbai) ... Rakhi is around the corner ... would Dassera ... and Diwali be too far .... :)

I dug up this old antique brass container ... reminds me of all the flowers I have arranged in it as a little girl ... trying to ape my mum ... as she arranged flowers in the drawing room ...

Well , brass things around the house ... always get me in the mood for Diwali ... I want to get all geared up ... start thinking of all the color schemes I want to use this year ... start collecting the cordinating accessories ... will it be Lanterns ... candles ... votives ... diyas ... what flowers are going to look gorgeous this year ...

... just wanted to add a bit of cheer to the cloudy ... and wet days ... and promptly my florist gets me my fav. white roses with a lil' blush of pink and pink oriental lillies ...

... no we don't get any dried willows out here ... I found some dried morning glory ... all dry and still clinging on the trees ... I love the mix of texture in my arrangements ....

... o.k so Diwali is still good two months away ... but I can't help myself ... I am addicted to celebrations ... gives me all the excuses to do up the place ...

And now to start triming all my candles ,shine up the brass ware... the feel is just right ( I am not the last minute kind of person) I enjoy preparations as much as the celebrations ... are you also feeling the Diwali excitment... are you also pulling out the brass lamps ... shining them up ... thinking up the menu for the family dinner ... uuuu ... what about the linen ... colors ... lights ... and loads of excitement ... well , do share with me if the you are getting in the mood for the festival season ... :)

The floral master has returned!!!
Ironically here in A rizona we experience the monsoon season as well in the summer & here in the night at 11:30pm its winds whipping & crazy rains as I type.
You have been missed.

Hi Alicia,
Ooouuuh! I can live the rest of my life being called the ... the floral master ... :).
I can very well relate to the whipping and craziness of the monsoon ... I had a tough night alone at home with gusty winds and windows ready to blow up ... sooo the flower therapy and some hot tea ... to soothe the nerves ...
Oh dear monsoon ...can't live with you... can't live without you ;)

Oh, I like that! I love that gleam of brass against the green of fresh leaves. And I love your innovation. The morning glory vines look great.
Great idea to start planning for all the festivities ahead. That makes it double the fun, doesnt it?

Hi Twisha,
I think as I grow... this color pallete is going even more neutral ... I am begining to enjoy the calm and serenity of whites ... may be in my own house I'll go and do it ...
I love my camera ,teaches me new compositions ... love the experiments ... but I am very much a novice with it ...

Well, Delhi ... here I come ... see you next week ... sweltering heat and all ... :)
I know I should not complain ... in Gurgaon I always cried about 8 months of heat and here I am cribbing about moisture from the sea on my dining table and fungus on my whites ;)... deary me ... ahh the heat can really be a killer ... but you know Rekha ,I loved the flower walas in Delhi ... nowhere else have I seen the sites of sooo much flowers ... I do miss the Mehrauli flower market ... all the flowers ... Well have a great Rakhi ... and thanks for dropping by :)
