Being Inspired .... :)

Texture on texture ... layering the lights ...

A bit of whimsy and tons of passion ...

I hit upon a lovely article ... it sort of spoke what I feel ... in terms of entertaining ... yes, I am not the tissue paper, plastic ware and disposable thingie's kind of a person ... and many of us have loads of reason why we love it that way ... a passionate dislike for plastic being quite there on the top of the list ...
... aaaaanyways ... I really wanted to share it with many of my like minded readers ... but then me being me ... I like to share my own images ... so a quick dig into my archives and here pop a few shots from a shoot at a project of mine.

Even though this was a display set up.But seriously who doesn't feel awesome sitting at a table the hostess felt like making special for the company. For all the yesss 's out there ... do pop by and have a looky at this article ... here. As the it reads ... How To Host A Magazine- Worthy Dinner Party. ... ;)... be Inspired.

Gloomy days call for some ... flower love ... :)

The last time I did a post about Simi's home in Karachi ... I had a whole lot of readers signing in from Pakistan ... :) I was seriously bowled over by that.Over the last couple of posts its been fun watching many a sign in coming  from Tunisia ... A big hi to all of you out there ... Especially to Asma ... it's always great to hear from you ... :))

... soooo ... this post may be more about, I love flowers ... I love white flowers ... and I have super crazy fun trying on the tone on tone ... texture on texture... arrangements ... ;)) But I am not trying to break the chain of thoughts from the last post ... we are very much still on the coffee table ... just a more in detail ... sort of way ... ;)

... the fun of arranging with the same fav. flowers gets an extra zing if  I try them out into something(as in an arrangement) with a new container ... whoever told you flowers only went in the flower vase ... well ! sorry puritans ... :)

I am a person who loves to believe being organised is the way to be ... only I never remember where the hell I organised my things ... so if I use a lidded container it was not style to just have the lid over the side ... I knew I'd loose it if I put it away somewhere. But I liked it just the way in the end ... :)Looked like flowers just popped out and the lid slipped by the side ... ;)
As for those of you wondering how we go about using a wide mouth container ...There are a couple of tricks ... in this arrangement I used the oasis ( the green color brick thingy) that you see at the florist's place. But I made sure I cover it all with the flowers so it really looks all  .... uuuh ! la laa ... ;))
Back to the coffee table series soon ... and may be will share a bitty about that jute table runner of mine ... :)

Lets talk flowers on a chilly winter morning ... :)

On a chilly winter morning like today here in Gurgaon ... a little talk about flowers can sure perk me up. Anyways, it has been sometime we talked about arranging flowers.

Bunch of green mums at my florists looked very attractive. And knowing my love for miniature arrangements around the house ... just one bunch and I had tiny lil' ones all over ... :) Ofcourse, not to say that I have a separate set of straight white glasses only for this.

Everytime I go on without the flowers or green ... it feels like something is not quite o.k around the house. And moment I get even a small bunch  ... hmmm ... you always wonder," ... now why didn't I think of it earlier ..." .... ;)

... and if it feels right to me ... bunch up a few glasses together ... why ... cause I can and I love it ... :))
Hope you are getting into the mood to experiment with some new variety of flowers ... or try some tiny arrangements like these ... ;) It sure puts you into a comfort zone and no calories to worry about either ... and incase you are going to be really happy and start snacking ... hey! join the gang ... :)))))))))))))))))))))))

Flowers at home ... :)

What with the rain Gods  playing hooky ... the heat is getting muggier and muggier ... but the skies looked beautiful yesterday ... and there was this lovely breeze closer to afternoon. And bang on cue the flower wala was waiting ... :)
So the first flowers of the season ( or at least in anticipation of ... ) arrived yesterday. Having just a few stems feels like the house was barren without them ... :)) Talking all  about colour these days ... I love this addition to the scheme of things. Hopefully they inspire me more on many things, color n home n décor ... :))
Hope you all are having a great start to the week.

Flowers to kickstart a great week ... :)

I am trying to work on fixing the complaints of a lot of my readers who have been missing my blogging ... :) Honestly, this is way more gratifying to hear than all the compliments that facebook selfies garner ... ;)) Lol ! ... sorry! pun intended ... ;))

... so carrying on with sharing a few pictures of what I absolutely love to do and go blah! blah ... all the while ...  flowers and of course, flowers around the house. Oh! I love doing those gigantic arrangements ... but tiny ones around the house with flowers put in what ever is around the house ... hmmm ... sort of more intimate I'd say ... unpretentious ... not trying to make a point ...they just sit there and its just pretty flowers looking pretty as they are.

... there are times  ... when a tiny bunch of flowers that are generally used as fillers ... like alyssum or the tiny daisies, look nice. And sometimes ... its fun to play with tone on tone ...  texture on texture ...

... loved trying out ... white roses ... orchids ... daises. And just a bunch of them can fill up so many tiny containers ... then of course it is up to you weather you want a cluster of tiny arrangements ... or just tiny ones all around the place. A very ... very organic way to beat the blues ... I'd say ...;))

Cute things come in small packages ... or ... small projects ... :)

Recently I helped do up a show space at a conference for a Graphic Designer (a dear dear friend now) ... the brief was ... I got a table ... and ofcourse ... our purpose was to catch eyeballs. Had a days notice and this arrangement popped up ,with all that was available at hand ...

My all time fav. for arrangements are clear glass jars ... and came in handy here are two of them ... the bell jar and a cylinder one inside it, that is actually holding the lily plant. Oh! yes ... I can be very thrifty and lucky for me the dried ficus stems from the garden came in handy to create a layer in between the two jars ... and of course, love the final look ...

... here is the piece as it sat on my sofa table ... all prep'ed and ready to go ... :))

And there we made it to the venue all in one piece ... and as always, every project teaches a lesson ... here I got it again ... sooo ... I never under estimate the power of surprise ... no matter how well prepared I may be ... situations always come up ... and knock the wind out of you ... :)) Please do not miss my graphic designer Smita ... still at work ... while we needed her machine to start running the presentation ... ;)

... being a smaller installation ... it wasn't a serious situation ... but last minute change of plans sure ... sure ... sure crop up ... :)

... but alls well that ends well ...

... hope you liked a peek into a cute lil' installation we did ... and as always ... flowers ... plants and we got tons of eye balls ... :))

Green indoors ... :)

Its quite spectacular what flowers do to any room ... bringing the greens indoors in a vase is just as awesome.

So every pruning season ... I hit a jackpot load of greens for all my rooms ... :) ... honestly, I just love the ... bringing the outdoors in feeling.

While not all greens may do so well in water ... some like the apricot cuttings ... here do amazingly well ... they of course love some fresh water every other day. The alocacia (elephant ears) ... ficus cuttings ... even the cuttings of the glory flowers( cleodendrums) with their bright red flowers survive a good while inside.

For a quick fix ... we all have the common plam at home in the pots ... well in water ... in a plain glass jar ... it looks just beautiful. Ok ... do excuse the unprepared look of my home ... while my girls are snoozing in the afternoon ... the curtains still need to be hung after a cleaning spree and the cushion covers ... but the greens make me happy ... so never mind the mess ... a home with green is just wonderful.

... I do end up using my greens, a lot ... cause in a weather like ours ... the heat ... and mugginess ... flowers do wilt  ... even before you are ready to let them go. And that is not a happy feeling ...

I figured for those months ... greens indoors  ... is quite fun ... :) ... no matter the size of arrangement you plan with them ... a few sprigs in a glass ... or a great big jar/vase.

Incase, you want to see more on leaves in vases  ... do drop by our pinterest board here and see a few of the pictures that are inspiring me ... :)

A live centrepiece ... in love with succulents ... :)

A live and green centre piece ... changing every now and then ... always got something interesting happening right there on your coffee table  ... now I really do like that kind of interesting pieces around me ... pretty sure you'd find them infectious too ... well! ... someone did ...

... back in Dec. of 2011 ... I did this post about a green centre piece with succulents ... you can have a peek at it here. Its around the same time of the year ... and I was super excited  getting a request to do a similar piece for a fellow Gurgaonite and a lovely blog reader of mine ...

... this is what the piece I did looked like just after plantation and a bit of watering ... I really hope you loved your piece, Sonia ... :))

... in all that looking around for the right pot for her I got bitten by the temptation bug ... :)) ... and look what happened ... ;))

... Gosh ! I really hope you got some bit of the infection too ... :)) Now who would mind being down with the green bug ... ;) in the winter ... aaahmm !well ! ... the hubbies may be ... ;))

When I'm feeling blue ... all I wanna do is take a look at you ... :)

Its rather gloomy weather here ... brings a lot of my work to a grinding halt ... makes me anxious ... hyper ... confused ... how can I forget to add a short fuse ... ;)) But a bit of cheer. Flowers ... thanks P, I love the flowers you sent over ... I got them all over the place.
I wonder how you like the flowers in your homes ... the casual look works with me... not loud, but part of the home look ... the staged arrrangements ... makes my fingers start to twitch ... ;)) ... you know what I mean.
These yellow roses and white lillies, sitting on my desk ... sure help, while I  wait and watch the Sun God play traunt.

Some green to get over the gloom ... in winters ... :)

Some of my fav. elements ... a pottery piece with that weathered patina... greens and stone ... :) ... just never know how a little time in the sun gets me all solar charged and ... ;))

... so there I was reading a book in the sun ,that just peeked out of the Gurgaon fog today ... and little do we know ... out come the scissors ... chop-chop ... :)) ... decided to revive my love of topiary, with these two cypress plants I picked up a little before Christmas ... and I love doing that thing with green cuttings (take them indoors) ... :) ... Oh! did I forget to tell you ... this pottery piece ... was my buy at the potter behind our conplex, while Sarah was looking for a diya for her diwali project at school ... wooohoo ... look what I dug up lying in their junk pile ...

... I really love the beautiful weathered patina on it. Don't ask me what is it ... hell! I have no clue ... but just liked it ... and I have a feeling you may get to see more of them if I can find them and yes ... these are sure getting used in some future photo shoots ... :))

... as each year that I grow older, there is something coming over me ... I am getting comfortable with my choices ... I don't necessarily get influenced by what others think about them ... if it makes me happy ... never mind if it looks weird or gets all myfamily and friends to go ... what's THAT ... ;))))

Its a brand new year ... I got my resolutions in order ... going to be all me ... arranging with greens and not just flowers ... I love the tarnished look so more of that elements are going to be in ... stone, yep I want to bring that architectural feel indoors with more of something in stone ... hmm ... :)) feels nice to have said that aloud... :))
How about you ... how much about your home are you thinking about making all about you ... ??? ...  drop me a line, incase you are in a mood to share your thoughts ... would sure love to hear from you... :)

A centre piece and lets warm up the indoors for winter ... :)

... its winter, .... that time of the year when plants actually are alright coming indoors at my place ... and I have been feeling sad about my coffee table looking dull and boring ... :) And yep! had a lil' experiment thingy somewhere in the back of my head ... ;)

... so , what do you get if you have a certain experiment itch  ... an ol' ceramic pot ( yep, see no bottom tray to hold water) ... and some new succulents you spied at the nursery ... :))))))))))

... looking at them all tiny lil' ones ... its not so exciting  ... no filled up looking pots ... aaaah! ... what do you do .... :) ...

... o.ky so I sweet talked my daughter into sharing her collecion of shiny stones from our recent road trip across India ... and guess what I even got a few tiny shells put in for free ... hey! these kids can be generous to mums, at times ... ;)

... yes , it was a concern how to save the polish of my coffee table .... well ! I just placed  this slate tile, I had lying around ... and yep! it will need to be taken out to be watered and kept there till it completely drains ... but thats cool with me ...

... ah! did get into trouble with the lil' brat falling in love with how mum, lil' project looked awesome all because she helped in with her shells and stones ... so that was not going to be it ... ''mama, now that you are so happy with that look ... I'll be real nice and go decorate the entire garden with my collections " ... NOoooooooooooooo ............. help me ... some body , ... that was not what I had bargained for ...
