Tablescape ... for a celebration ...

Draping a table ... is one of my favourite style ...have to say ...my fabric collection definitely comes in handy ...

... the universal magic of ... whiteware ... it fits right in with what ever the color you want to work with ... no wonder I love whiteware ... and 'am sure super partial towards it ... :)

... I had a beautiful matka silk yardage ... earth tone ... with a block print motifs ... that I decided to use here ...

... the glow of gold in the tablescape ... are accents I use very often ... you can even see them in my Diwali 2009 banner ... with a pink silk fabric ... what are they you may ask ... :) ??? ... well how about I let you guess ... I'll look forward to your guesses in my comment section ... and I'd love to share the story of these gold leaves ...

... the setting ... is off centred on my round dining table ...and anchored by the flower vase ... the pillar candles add the drama of candle light ( I love ... I love ... I love candle light) ... the gold leaf accents and the tealights are randomly scattered ... tucked in here and there are a few greens ...

... Oh! yes ... I had help ... help that couldn't quite decide what was more exciting ... lighting the candles or blowing them off ... ;)

... O.k heres a secret ... even if I have enough seating I love buffets ... I can go beserk with the table setting ...

... especially when I just drape the table with yardages ... I scrunch up the fabric add in the accents ... and just place in the bowls ...taureens ... plates and the rest of the table things ...

... earth ... gold ... and white ... I enjoyed doing this tablescape ... hope you enjoyed it too... and found some inspiration for all the festivities and celebrations getting lined up ... I'd love to hear what you felt ... joining in with me ... on my tablescape to celebrate ... :)

Ah..lovely! Move to gurgaon soon so that I can see all this offline! :)

My trick for table deco: I rummage through my shaadi stuff: dupattas and scarves with zari and tassles and embroidery and like...will never wear those, but they look amazing as drapes/table covers during diwali. Haven't had the courage to 're-purpose' the sarees as yet though.. ;)

Rajee, are those teak leaves? They look so pretty spray-painted gold! Your whole tablescape reminds me of a woodland picnic (a very upscale one though)... like A Midsummer Night's Dream.Very creative !
Hmmmm... it looks like you have no way out, Rajee but to throw open your doors to your blogger buddies. What did you expect when you present us with such droolable photos ? ;D

As for whiteware ... you'll never go wrong with it ...you'll never have to worry about matching linen ... tablecloth... table accesories ... and suddenly you always feel things fit in perfect ... just like abracadabra ;)

Bhavna ... you resonate my thought(sigh) ... and I am beginning love the idea of all the bloggy girls ganging up for a party together ...
I'll come over and help you with that last bit of push to repurpose the sarees ...
I love the table deco ideas too ... yeah ,well as long as one doesn't get spotted with... "oh that's from last Diwali isn't it" ... ;)

Hi Sunita,
Oh,I wish I could get those ...that would be real drama ... these are the almond tree leaves...what I love about these particular ones was... sadly the tree was infested with bugs ...but spray paint the leaves with all those holes ... I loved the effect ... hmm a woodland picnic ... I like the sound of that ... :)
I really would love nothing more than to have all the blogger buddies drop by ... my idea of a 'Party Time' ...:)

Love your collection of white-ware.. I had debated so much before getting my first set of China .. settled eventually on white only, with some gold trim. Like you said , they can never go wrong :)Noticed the white linen too .. Love 'em.

Hi Aswathy,
i am so glad you too enjoyed the tablescape ... the whiteware started with me out of pure "just married and have no money to indulge" reasons ... Oh,dear and now I am always on the look out ... one problem though , all the white ware matches the ones you got home ... sometime that makes it very hard to resist getting into a shopping frenzy ... ;)
Hope you'll drop by to check out the other posts too and enjoy them just the same ... :)
