Diwali ... time to float some flowers and light the candles ...

If you are thinking ... of a floating flower arrangement this year ... and still wondering what
are your best options ... well why not try your trays ...
... set the color theme with the flowers and the floating candles ...

... remember to trim the flowers as close as possible to the base ... this will help them float better ... hope you discover all your lovely dishes can turn into beautiful centre pieces ... :)

Brilliant - I like how you kept the flower colors muted - shows off the intrinsic work on the trays even better. Pretty pretty thalis....

Hi Kanika,
I had picked up a bilk load of them two years ago from The Bombay Store ... Diwali coming close you might find some options with them( if you are travelling this side of country)...can check with tem if you want ... and if you want to look locally in Delhi ... try Sundernagar ... there is a shop in the end of right side lane ... it has loads of hanging glass jars and lantern options ... an dits not very expensive as one would think Sundernagar to be ... you can also check this place in Mehrauli ... do you know wicker world at Mehrauli... well diagonally opposite it I remember seeing this store with loads of Lantern options ... buthen I haven't been inside personally ... and while you are there ... look on the opp. side of the road ... you'll see these banjara people sitting with loads of iro things ... lil'lil' nick nacks sort of things ... sometimes they have amazing pieces ... but they are bloody pricy to you'll need to check about that ... hope this helps ... otherwise let me know ... though most of the home sections of the stores will have some selection of lanterns ... all the best ... :)

*sigh!* Oh Rajee... that is just so mindblowingly gorgeous! I love that soft glow and the flowers strewn around.
Here's another tip : when using flowers for a floating arrangement, choose flowers with thick petals such as orchids or frangipani. If you use the thin-petalled ones, they get soggy and look very messy.
BTW, great photos. Please tell me how you took them ... night photography is my Achilles heel! :P

Rajee Sood said...

Hi Sunita,
I'm glad you enjoyed the post ... and you are right about the flowers to float ... here I picked the white orchids ... though they may look to many as jasmine ... and I love white soooo ... :)
Ah! night photography ... Sunita , I try to use the tripod ... got shaky hands otherwise ... and indoors I try to have another light source not very overpowering though ... my shots with just the candle lights don't come out as desired ... personally I too haven't tried too much night photography ... :)
