Ah! the things novice do ... ;) my old work pictures ...

...sooooo, incase you are giggling at the pictures ... come on ... I was only 23 ... a yr. out of design school.and this was one of my first projects ... it taught me a lot ... including the fact that when s#@* hits the ceiling  ... its still gotta be you whose going to clean up  ... yep! in lot of ways made me grow up ...

... a picture that'll stay in my mind for as long as I live  ... the very first terrace I designed ... sure I was just the junior designer ... but the big guys at work helped me out in crisis and let me walk away with all the accolades ... ( so I was the baby of the office) got away with a lot stuff that could have other wise got me fired ... ;) ... Ah!and did I mention this terrace was on the 5th floor ...

... this was the area opening up to the terrace garden ... please don't ask me why that dining  ... the client freaked out over wanting a low table and the photograper discovered the  new addition of the chairs ... ;) ... well !  ... :):)
... would you believe me, painting that entrance door red and designing those  iron grills  was a lesson for me ... 'sweetheart ... no free hand sketches when dealing with guy who'll be making your pieces... design ... measure and specify ... or be ready for goof ups' ... courtsey my architect/designer friend ... sure she's reading this and gloating ... ;) ...

... my boss one day took me to the stinkiest slum ever and introduced me to a guy who carved out grinding stones (our kitchen variety)  ... his words ... "oh! you have those stepping stones planned out in that water body ... and that water fall ... well ! I found you the perfect solution ... use the stones this guy carves ,tell him what you want  and you'll be fine with that design concept of yours  ...  " , 'who MEEEE !!! tell him ... you kiddin' I have no clue what to do MYSELF' ... after getting out of there ... throwing up a few times ... crying my eyes red and puffy ... and still no more help coming forth my way ... I did it... :) ... couldn't locate the picture of that waterfall we managed out of the grinding stones ... but you can see the stepping stones ... which refused to set in cement ... ;);)

... after the project was ready to be handed over ... this window was my fav. spot  ... it looked on to that lil' pond out side ... lined with gorgeous petunia and palms ... and two waterfalls making that sound we all fall in love with ... :):)
Sure when you look back at the projects you did a couple of years ago ... and you go ... eeeeks ! I couldn't have done that ... (I do that all the time) ... but now I realise ... what I am today is all because of what I got to do all those years ago... sure I'll be yikes! ... and eeeks!  in afew years ... about a lot of things I do today... :):)... but its all fun cause I still love doing this stuff  ...
Hope you enjoyed a peek into my novice days ... sure go ahead you are free to eek ! and yike ... ;):)

Hi Purnima,
It was a very very sharp learning curve ... thanks to the architects ... the civil engineer... I sure figured out a lot ... and not to mention the landscaping of a terrace ... the nightmare was when we broke the flooring of the terrace to waterproof it for the pond ... and that night we had rain out of the pink (talk about rarest of rare case scenerio)... really and the owners of the flat below were all set to sue by morning cause their flat got flooded ... ;)
Freshies get away with murder I'd say ... :)

i don't know what's with the people on the top floors wanting waterfalls on the fifth floor ! are these factors ( load building) taken care of when the building is built? leaks and flood are a common phenomenon these days when staying in high rises.

rajee, you can get away with murder, because your job is only to make it look pretty - but that also shows that the civil engineer and architect throwing caution in the wind and unmindful of professional standards !! !I will worry about staying in such a building, where neighbors are building waterfalls, putting banana trees in the balcony, building a pit to start a fire inside the building ! it shows disregard to safety and contempt at the cost of glamorous looking dysfunctional design ! on the part of the civil engineer and architect. just my 2 cents.

Hi Devshreehb,
That garden if I remember correctly sure got a lot of of the child like fun out in people ... I remember alot of adults walking in the pond ... or sticking their hands out of the window and falling all the way out to touch the water... if thaht's what you mean by the lil' baby thingy... :)

Hi Emreen,
Thankyou so much for sharing your thoughts with me ... the owners Iremember were more than happy to live with just sheer curtains ... cause no one wanted the garden blocked out ... :):)

I like the low
round table with the chairs - looks phenomenal. I am curious - Is it functional and practical as great as it looks?

Thank You

Hi Naveena,
Thankyou so much ... :)

Hi Sneha,
Yep agree the dining looks nice ... but the chairs planned for this table were to be more low on the floor level ... I was very curious to see how an adult would find it comfy ... according to me no way ...
But the chairs were an additn. by the client and since the site had been handed over ... :)) ... well ! what can I say ... ;)
